Minor in Asian Studies

The minor in Asian Studies provides a well-rounded introduction to the world’s most populous region and its people, who identify as Asians wherever they may be in the world. The minor is complementary to majors in anthropology, business, East Asian languages and cultures, history, political science, economics, or other arts and letters departments.

Requirements

15 credit hours* of Asia-related courses fulfilling each of the following: 

  • 12 credits from at least three different disciplines (History, Literature and Culture, Humanities, Social Sciences) and up to 3 credit hours of Language 
  • 3 credits of Upper-Level curriculum taken during the senior year that culminates in a capstone project 

* Students are encouraged to study abroad in order to enrich their understanding of Asia with first-hand experience. Up to 6 credit hours from courses taken abroad at official Notre Dame study abroad programs can be counted toward the Asian studies minor.
