The Liu Institute for Asia and Asian Studies offers a range of grants that support University of Notre Dame students, core affiliated faculty, and faculty fellows for Asia-focused projects, experiences, and events.
The Keough School for Global Affairs has launched an initiative that centralizes all funding opportunities into a searchable online database. For current Liu Institute grants, guidelines, and applications, visit keough.nd.edu/opportunities. Please search for "Liu Institute" or "Asia."

Student Grants
Notre Dame undergraduates are invited to apply for support for research, internships, language study, and service opportunities. Graduate students are eligible to apply for funding for Asia-related research.
Undergraduate students are encouraged to attend research workshops by the Flatley Center for Undergraduate Scholarly Engagement (CUSE) or meet with KK Lee, program manager for research and strategic initiatives, to strengthen their proposals.

Faculty Grants
Proposals are accepted for activities, including research, guest speakers, lecture series, and conferences, from Liu Institute faculty fellows and core affiliated faculty members.

Justice and Asia
The grant application for this grant will open later during the fall 2026 semester.
The Liu Institute for Asia and Asian Studies seeks to fund projects as part of its Justice and Asia thematic cluster. All proposals should have Asia at their center. Justice is defined broadly and can include social justice, ethics, fairness, well-being, freedom, dignity, inequality, discrimination, poverty, poetic justice, and environmental justice. Proposals for theoretical investigations into Asian concepts of justice are also welcomed.
