Vibha Bakshi
Vibha Bakshi, the film’s director and producer, is scheduled to speak in person at the screening.

"Son Rise" is a story of courage and commitment from the strongly patriarchal state of Haryana, bordering India’s capital, New Delhi. In "Son Rise," the state finds its heroes—ordinary men who take on the extraordinary fight to break the shackles of patriarchy and challenge the age-old tradition of male dominance.

Directed and produced by Vibha Bakshi, "Son Rise" won India's 2019 National Film Awards for best film (non feature) and best editing (non feature), awarded by the president of India—the highest recognition in Indian cinema.

United Nations Academic Impact has selected "Son Rise" for the promotion of human rights through 1,400 higher education institutions in 147 countries. The film is being showcased as part of the UN's global #HeForShe movement across 71 countries.
