Anand Pillay learned sitar in London from Vidushi Jayasri Banerjee who was herself a student of her father the renowned Pandit S.N. Saha from Midnapore, W. Bengal. He performed in the 1970's and early 1980's throughout the UK with the group India Music. He has performed in South Bend and Urbana-Champaign. He is currently William J. Hank Professor of Mathematics at Notre Dame.
KVS Vinay is a seasoned violinist who has recently moved to South Bend, Indiana after being and integral part of Boston area and larger East Coast Carnatic community over 15 years. Vinay comes from a family dedicated to Carnatic music. He is the grandson of Sangeeta Kalanidhi T.K. Jayarama Iyer, noted violinist and the pioneer of orchestration in Carnatic music. Born and raised in New Delhi, Vinay was initiated into music by Vidushi A. Vanaja. He subsequently received advanced training under Vidwan V. Janakiraman of Delhi and his uncle Vidwan Kovai B. Dakshinamurthy of Chennai. A concert performer since his teens, Vinay has had the privilege of accompanying many leading Carnatic musicians from India and in the US and also performed on national TV and radio in India. An economist by training, Vinay works for a leading multinational in the analytics area.
Sriram N. Iyer is a versatile artiste and collaborative world musician specializing in the classical South Indian instruments Mridangam (barrel drum) and Kanjira (Frame Drum). Sriram started training on the Mridangam at the age of 9, under the veteran Guru Sri K V Maniappan in Mumbai, India. Sriram has had advanced training from the Sangeetha Kalanidhi Palghat Raghu. He is presently under the guidance of senior Vidwan Tanjavur Sri Murugaboopathi. Sriram regularly accompanies renowned and upcoming artistes in India and the US. Sriram is a resident of Excelsior MN, teaches students across the Midwest, and is the founder of the Layyasaaram Institute of Indian Arts, a Twin Cities based non-profit organization. Sriram is a Director of Technology for a leading healthcare organization.
Pranav Ghatraju, a native of Massachusetts, began his training in Tabla at the Learnquest Academy of Music, MA under Dr. Nishikant Sonwalker when he was 5 years old. For the past 10 years, he has been under the tutelage of Ustad Shabbir Nisar son of Tabla Nawaaz Ustad Shaik Dawood Khan of Hyderabad, India. Pranav has been actively accompanying artists and giving solo performances across both the USA and India sine a young age. His talents have been well appreciated by many of today's greatest maestros. Pranav was awarded a scholarship by the New England Conservatory in 2007 to attend the World Rhythm boot camp. He is also the winner of many other awards and accolades, including first prize in the national Swar-Ganga finals in Atlanta. Currently he is studying Chemical Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
