Courses and Students
The Liu Institute for Asia and Asian Studies in the Keough School of Global Affairs hosts a supplementary major in Asian Studies and a minor in Asian Studies, which allow students to learn about Asia through history, political science, sociology, economics, literature, language, religion, and other disciplines. Earning an Asian studies supplementary major or minor equips you with the skills and knowledge to be competitive in an international environment and to respond to the needs of a global society. This academic year, 941 Notre Dame students were enrolled in 51 Asian Studies courses.
The Class of 2025
The Liu Institute for Asia and Asian Studies is proud to celebrate all the student accomplishments of the class of 2025. On May 2, 2025, the institute hosted a photoshoot for all graduating seniors in Asian Studies, their faculty advisors, and our graduating student assistants who are part of the fabric of the institute. This year, we had ten students graduating with a supplementary major in Asian Studies, a minor in Asian Studies, or the supplementary major in global affairs with a global Asia concentration.

Supplementary Major in Asian Studies
Katherine Kat Le
Major: Business Analytics
Kat will begin as a business management associate for General Mills in Phoenix, Arizona.
Zohreh Qazilbash
Major: History
Xiyun Wu
Major: Art History
Xiyun will pursue a master's degree in regional studies in East Asia at Harvard University.
Minor in Asian Studies
Zhuohan David Dai
Major: Business Analytics
David will pursue a master's degree in public policy at the University of Chicago.
Bianca Victoria Mercado Feix
Major: Neuroscience and Behavior
Bianca will work with the St. Joseph Worker Program in Orange, California, and plans to enroll in medical school.
Sophia Labrador
Major: Computer Science
Sophia will start as a consultant at Pariveda, Chicago.
James Reintjes
Majors: International Economics and Sustainability, and Chinese
James has been named a 2025 Yenching Scholar and will participate in an interdisciplinary master’s degree program in China studies at the Yenching Academy of Peking University in Beijing.
Isa Sheikh
Major: History
Isa will pursue a master's of philosophy in Modern South Asian Studies at Cambridge University

Esther Lynch
Major: Political Science
Esther will be a fellow at Seven Letter PR in Washington, DC.
