Notre Dame alum Lindsay Brown will visit us on Monday, September 11 to talk about how she has turned her dream of empowering girls through sports into action. She will speak on three occasions, all of which are open to our community:
1) 9:30–10:45 AM at B032 Jenkins Nanovic Hall (in conjunction with CSEM 23101-07)
2) 3:30–4:45 PM at B071 Jenkins and Nanovic Hall (in conjunction with POLS 43001-05 )
3) 5:00 PM at LaFortune Gold Room (306) (in conjunction with She’s The First's meeting)
Lindsay Brown is founder and director of The SEGway Project, a nonprofit organization that uses soccer to empower adolescent girls in Nepal and Kenya. An avid soccer player herself, Lindsay won the 2010 NCAA National Championship while playing for the University of Notre Dame. Off the field, Lindsay has been an advocate for the use of sports to promote gender equity in the developing world at the United Nations, Clinton Global Initiative, Google Zeitgeist Forum and has been featured on the Today Show and in Seventeen Magazine. Currently, Lindsay is pursuing a Master in Public Policy and Juris Doctor degree at the Harvard Kennedy School and Georgetown Law.
