Tai Chi: Pushing Hands

The Chinese Program in the Departent of East Asian Languages and Cultures is proud to offer Tai Chi: Pushing Hands, a Chinese Martial Arts open Class.  Dr. Zhangguo Peng, an associate professor from the Institute of Chinese Philosphy at Lanzhou University in China, will instruct this class. His fields of research include Yi-ology; the relation between Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism; the physical and mental cultivation and transformation of ancient Chinese people. As a 7th generation descendant of Yang-style Tai Chi Chuan, he has practiced Tai Chi for over 20 years, and is especially skilled in Pushing Hands. In 2007 he won the championship of Pushing Hands Compeition in Gansu Province, China. He was awarded Band Six of Chinese Martial Arts and is currently the judge and the guide for the Chinese Martial Arts Association.
