Flowering 1k

The Flowering of Modern Chinese Poetry is an anthology celebrating the creativity of Chinese poets from the first half of the twentieth century. This brand-new collection also celebrates a unique, decade-long cooperation between one of its co-editors, Herbert Batt, a Notre Dame alumnus (class of 1967, maxima cum laude) and Michel Hockx, the Liu Institute director and a specialist on modern Chinese poetry, and who provided introductions to all sections of the anthology.

At this launch event, Batt and Hockx will be joined by children of some of the greatest modern Chinese poets, such as Mu Dan 穆旦, Zheng Min 郑敏, and Ji Xian 纪弦, who will participate in the reading of some of their parents' poems in both Chinese and English.

Copies of the book will be available for sale and signing. A reception will follow the event.
