Speaker Support

Programming Note for AY 2021-22

For the coming academic year, the Liu Institute will focus on organizing recurring events and will not be able to organize one-off/single events. We are happy to provide funding and help promote one-off/single events related to Asia and Asian Studies.

Speaker Support

Faculty Fellows interested in bringing a speaker to campus are asked to complete the speaker nomination form for consideration.

Faculty are highly encouraged to seek supplementary support from their home departments and other units on campus in conjunction with funding requests made to the Institute. The proposed speaker’s expertise must be related to Asia and aligned with the Institute’s mission.

Requests should be submitted 6-12 months in advance of the desired campus visit. Speaker requests will be reviewed by the Director and Institute Manager. Support will be awarded based on relevance to the mission of the Institute, budgetary appropriateness and with consideration to the overall event schedule.

Speaker Series

Faculty Fellows are encouraged to collaborate and propose a thematic speaker series over the course of an academic year. Past examples include:

2018-2019 series on Legitimacy and Propaganda in Contemporary Asia

2019-2020 series on China and Africa
