Sujie Jin

Sujie Jin is a Ph.D. candidate in Chinese Studies at the Institute of Asian and Oriental Studies, University of Zurich. Her research interests lie in literary, media, and culture studies, specializing in danmei (indulging in the beautiful)—a genre of Chinese online fiction and a subculture that focuses on women’s fantasies about male homosexuality. Her publications, which include one peer-reviewed paper and two book chapters, critically explore how marginalized and subcultural communities negotiate with the mainstream public domain and official discourse within the digital Sinosphere.

The lecture is sponsored by the Liu Institute's Chinese Working Group.
