Step into the festive spirit of the Lunar New Year!
This presentation will introduce some of the most recognizable New Year traditions shared across the Chinese-speaking world. We will explore what families typically do on important days such as the 1st, 2nd, and 15th day of the Lunar New Year, why people “go on spring visits” (走春), and how temples become lively spaces filled with wishes for health, luck, and prosperity.
Participants will also get to experience hands-on cultural activities, such as learning how people pray for good fortune, trying traditional divination blocks (擲筊), and discovering the meanings behind common New Year blessings. No prior knowledge is required. Just bring your curiosity and join us in welcoming a fresh start together!
