As South Asian countries and peoples struggle to develop, these efforts have created a host of environmental problems — particularly air and water pollution — that negatively impact people’s health.
At the same time, South Asia is extremely vulnerable to the effects of climate change, despite being a relatively small contributor to the processes that cause it. This makes the protection of local forests and other natural resources even more important and challenging.
