Research Funding

Application Requirements: Research Grants

Research grants are available for Faculty Fellows to fund research-related expenses such as travel, software, acquisition of materials, and research assistantships.

Applicants are also encouraged, if eligible, to apply for funding from other units, such as: ISLA, Kellogg

Maximum award: $5,000

Requests for funding exceeding the maximum award amount will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Deadline: Proposal submissions are accepted twice a year. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis.

Fall October 15
Spring February 15

Please send a proposal (10 page maximum, single spaced) for your research to Patrick Deegan (pdeegan1@nd.edu). The proposal should include the following:

-          Description of research question and context within your field
-          Previous relevant research on the topic
-          Research location, duration
-          Collaborating scholars and assistants, if applicable
-          Methodology and materials used
-          Expected outcome, both abstract (in terms of research) and concrete (such as publications)
-          Relevance and value to the Institute
-          Line-item budget with justification
-          Other sources (internal and external) from which funding has been requested

Other materials that must accompany the proposal:

-          Applicant’s CV
-          Qualifications of research assistant(s), if applicable

 

Faculty Fellows applying for funding to present at conferences must send a brief proposal including the following:

-          Name, date, and location of conference
-          What your participation in the conference will be
-          Relevance to your research
-          Relevance to the Institute
-          Line-item budget with justification
-          Other sources (internal and external) from which funding has been requested
